After flying into Marrakech via Madrid, we trecked through the Atlas Mountains and on to a camp in the desert. A Toyota Land Cuiser Prado carried us over the sand to the camp where we stayed in luxurious tents. We were up early to brave the cold temperatures and get into position for sunrise shots with the camels. It was my first time in Africa and I was quite surprised that we saw snow in the Atlas Mountains and that it was cold in the Sahara Desert! With Jessa Ray Muse, Sara Scarlett, and Joy Lamore.

Most of the mining was for silver and remains of the mines are a fairly common sight if you know where to look. The cable drum in the photo is no longer used but it made a perfect background for this shot of Leo LaBlanche. The cable originally hauled the ore to the surface for processing.
